Haku was pulling on Korra's hand a bit more intently as they came upon two small rocks in the ground.
"… Are these your parents' graves?" Korra asked.
"Yeah," Haku answered.
"How come there aren't any proper headstones?" Bolin asked.
"… After they died," Haku started, "I couldn't afford to pay for a funeral for them. So, I had to bury them myself."
Bolin shook his head, dolefully. The poor boy had it even worse than he and Mako had. Korra fr

The search for new airbenders was not straightforward, especially when none of them so far seemed interested in leaving their lives behind. It was even harder to search for them while carrying a baby around. Korra was in-between her first and second trimesters, and despite her current condition, she had to help rebuild the Air Nation in whatever way she could.
They had landed the airship in a small Earth Kingdom town after a long, fruitless da
The First Day.
The summer sun was hot as usual that morning. Everyone was on the practice field at 8 in the morning on the dot like they were told to be. Korra was sitting on the ground tying her shoes and talking to some of the guys that she made friends with before the camp.
The coach’s whistle instantly caught everyone’s attention and they all ran to the middle of the field. “Okay everyone,” he shouted out so that all the people there could hear, “these two here beside me are your senior captains, Mako and Hasook.” The coach motioned over to the two boys standing next to him, both wearing football shir
The Window.
“We’re home!” Bolin yelled as he and his brother walked into their home, Mako locking the door behind them.
“In the kitchen.” A woman’s voice yelled back.
Bolin dropped his book bag in the entryway and walked through the open living room and into the kitchen. Mako followed close behind, picking up his brother’s book bag and setting it in one of the cushioned chairs in the living room.
“Hey dad, watch are you watching?” Mako asked as he stood beside his father and looked at the TV screen.
“College playoffs started early this year. I thought you had practice after school

Book 2, Chapter 8: Memory Loss
The smell of air sanitizer and anesthetics filled the air as Korra hurried through the dully painted halls of the hospital. The nurse at the front desk said that her mother was just around the corner, but it seemed like the hallway was getting longer the further she went. She wished more than anything that Mako could have come with her, but since it technically wasn’t visiting hours he was told he had to stay in the waiting room with Kaskae.
As Korra finally turned the corner, she quickly spotted her mother through an open door, sitting up in a hospital bed and looking off to the side. Wasting no time
The List
May at Republic City High was like any other high school; seniors getting ready for graduation and college, juniors standing ready to take over the school, and fall sports putting together their summer camps. Football was the sport for fall when school started back each year, and the sign up list was always the talk of the school in May.
“Hey Mako, guess what I heard.” A classmate yelled out as he walked up to Mako and Bolin in the back courtyard of the school.
“What?” Mako asked as he looked up from his binder.
“You know that new girl that transferred here like two months ago? The one that Asami alway

Book 2, Chapter 7: Regret it in the Morning
The long awaited knock on the door sprang Korra to her feet. It was late in the evening, the tinted orange lights from the streetlights had been peeking in through the window for some time now, and the sound of the heat kicking on through the vents was officially louder than the sound of cars driving on the nearby road. Had anyone else been at her door at this hour, Korra would have left them standing outside, but she had been expecting this visitor for some time now. Opening the door, she found the familiar face of her boyfriend, his usual red scarf around his neck and a gray duffle bag over his
